Lawyer Morara Kebaso has issued a public apology after a video showing him attending President William Ruto rally resurfaced online.
In the undated video, the lawyer could be seen in the background while Kisii Governor Simba Arati was addressing the crowd.
In an update on his X page on Wednesday, September 18, Kebaso admitted to meeting Ruto, however, noting that the rally took place months before the Gen Z protests.
The lawyer said he met Ruto on March 23, 2024, when the president visited his home area to launch a development project.
“At that time, I didn’t know that the project he had come to launch in my home area was a fraud. I was naïve like most of you at the time. It’s also important for all those who believe in me to know that I am not a content creator and I am not an activist. I am a leader and I did not start today I started when I was a child. I have developed my skills over time. I have stood by my values. I will remain accountable and honest whenever such questions are raised,” he wrote on X.
In a separate post, Kebaso asked Kenyans who support his cause for demand for better governance and accountability to forgive him for attending the rally.
“I want to be forgiven for attending one of his developmental tours because at that time I thought I was being patriotic and I never knew I was in the middle of a crime scene. Kwa hilo mnisamehe,” he wrote.
This comes two weeks after State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed clashed with Kebaso on live TV.
On Wednesday, August 28, the two were embroiled in a heated exchange after Kebaso claimed to have received a call from the president for a job offer.

The lawyer claimed that he spoke to President William Ruto respectfully and declined the opportunity, which he claimed was a state offer.
“Initially, I had calls from people around the president. Then eventually I got a call from the president. I spoke to him very respectfully because he is our president and he has been given that mandate by the people. Whatever I was offered, I refused. I was offered a state position,” Kebaso claimed.
However, in reaction to the claims, Mohamed, in a live call, claimed that Ruto never called the outspoken lawyer.
The State House spokesperson said he was shocked by the allegations and challenged Morara to prove that the president had actually called him.
“I am shocked about what Morara is saying. I wonder why he would lie on national TV. For the record, no such call ever took place. It is a figment of his imagination. Let him substantiate it,” Mohamed stated.
