2 min readMt Kenya Foundation/tycoons make pledges to work with President-elect William Ruto’s administration after the Supreme Court upheld his victory.
The tycoons from the populous Mt Kenya region have underlined that the election season is over and that the nation needs to advance in a joint statement with the Gema Cultural Association (GCA) on Friday, September 9.
Led by the Chair of the Mt. Kenya Foundation Peter Munga and GCA Rev. Lawi Imathiu and former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki, the group called on William Ruto to prioritize the unity of the country.
“We take this opportunity to congratulate the president-elect and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for their election to the presidency and we promise to support his government and pray that God will help him fulfill the vision for our great nation,” read the statement in part.
“As a father would do, we expect the president-elect will develop the country equally. All elected leaders should address the issues of drought and high cost of living that are affecting Kenyans.”
The group stated that they supported the Azmio presidential candidate and former prime minister Raila Odinga as they believed in his candidature
The Mt Kenya foundation went on to say that the March 2018 handshake between Uhuru and Raila gave the nation a great deal of comfort during a trying time.
“We appreciate their (Raila and Martha Karua) immense contribution to the democratization process of this country,” they lauded Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate and his running mate for their pursuit of justice.
