Ruto hands Musalia Mudavadi sweeping powers in the new government reorganization.
After President William Ruto made significant adjustments to his administration, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi gained extensive authority in the government.
Through an Executive Order, the President elevated Mudavadi’s positions within the state hierarchy in addition to making him the third-most powerful leader in the country.
Despite reports that Mudavadi and Ruto’s deputy Rigathi Gachagua were engaged in a cold war over their respective responsibilities, Ruto put the former ANC leader in charge of overseeing the implementation of his development plan.
The President directed that Mudavadi will assist him and his deputy in “the coordination and supervision of government ministries and State Departments.”
Mudavadi will now be in charge of the Government Delivery Unit, previously known as the Presidential Delivery Unit(PDU).
He will be directly in charge of the implementation of government development projects across the country.
With the new powers, Mudavadi will be traversing the country to inspect development projects being done by the Kenya Kwanza administration, getting massive coverage and political influence.
Ruto also put the Amani National Congress leader in charge of the formulation and execution of government development programmes.
He will chair the Principal Secretaries’ Committees and supervise the technical monitoring and evaluation of Government policies, programs, and projects.
On Monday, President William Ruto issued a fresh Executive Order reassigning some functions in his administration.
The changes come four days after an executive retreat in Nanyuki that brought together top ranks of government officers.
