The National Transport and Safety (NTSA) officials have impounded a Toyota Probox ferrying 13 students along the Kitale – Kapenguria Road.
In a statement via X, NTSA said the driver of the vehicle has been arrested and will be charged in court.
“Vehicle found ferrying 13 students impounded along Kitale – Kapenguria Road. The driver has been arrested and will be charged,” NTSA stated.
The authority at the same time urged motorists to be cautious of the safety of school children.
“We urge motorists to be cognizant of the safety of our children. Let us together make sure our children get to their respective schools safely,” NTSA added.

On Monday NTSA announced that school transport vehicles are currently undergoing road safety compliance checks in various parts of the country.
The state agency noted that each school bus should have a functional speed limiter that is onboarded onto the NTSA Intelligent Road Safety Management System.
The authority also maintained that the driver of each of the vehicles must have the requisite DL class endorsement and a valid PSV badge.
Further, NTSA said the school vehicles should have a valid inspection certificate, valid Road Service Licence (RSL), functional seatbelts, and valid vehicle insurance.
“School administration MUST put in place measures to ensure full Compliance with the requirements of the Traffic Act and the PSV regulations,” NTSA stated.
