Raila calls for immediate Ruto resignation during the Jacaranda rally as he did not win the August presidential elections.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has asked President William Ruto to accept that he did not win the August 2022 presidential elections.

While addressing the Jacaranda rally, in Nairobi on Sunday, Raila said that faulted Ruto for the high taxation in the country.

“Accept that you were defeated in the election, leave State House for Baba to get in. We are speaking the truth, we do not want war, and we do not want threats. We have our rights as Kenyans, and it can not be snatched by a hawk, Kenyans deserve a leader that they elected,” he said.

In addition, Raila reacted to a move by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate claims of rigging in the 2022 polls.

Raila said that the truth can only be revealed if Azimio is allowed to scrutinize the Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers.

“I have seen DCI (Mohamed Amin) saying he wants to conduct an investigation. DCI, you are an employee of Ruto, you can not conduct investigations,” Raila stated.

In a statement dated January 25, DCI boss Amin Mohamed noted that the police branch has received numerous complaints regarding the elections, faulting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for running a faulty election.

He said DCI is investigating the validity and authenticity of the documents in question, asking IEBC to provide Forms 34B that were used to tally, verify and declare the result of the presidential elections of 9th August 2022.

In addition, Raila continued his vocal criticism of the Ruto administration over unethical and exploitative practices.

Raila likened the current government to the biblical tax collector Zacchaeus, known for his unethical and exploitative practices.

Mr. Odinga urged Kenyans to resist paying taxes, claiming that they were “punitive” and unjust.

“We ask that all Kenyans demand the removal of these punitive taxes,” Odinga said.

“There will be no taxation without representation,” he added, emphasizing his belief that the government was not truly representing the people’s interests.

Odinga also accused the Ruto administration of attempting to take control of major institutions in the country, claiming that recent leadership changes at parastatals were part of a scheme to loot public resources.

He cited the recent change in leadership at Kenya’s largest telco, Safaricom, as an example, where John Ngumi was replaced by Adil Arshed.

“In the last few weeks, Ruto has replaced the leadership of various parastatals with his shady characters. We know that this is meant for the looting of public resources,” Odinga said.
