Museveni held talks with President William Ruto on Thursday, May 16, at State House, where he declared that the ultimate goal of the EAC was to create one government for East Africa.
“We revived the East African Community because it has an agenda that goes beyond mere economic integration. If you read Article 5 of our treaty, it says that ultimately we shall create a political federation.
Therefore, for the EAC, our ultimate target is to create one government for East Africa,” said Museveni.
The Ugandan leader maintained that while economic prosperity can be handled by economic integration, strategic security needs political integration.
