President William Ruto has announced that the government will purchase 6,000 acres of Kedong Ranch and hand it over to locals.

Speaking during a stopover meeting in Suswa on Tuesday, May 6, Ruto expressed that he had mobilised resources to undertake the purchase.

He added that 4,000 acres of the Kedong land had been handed over earlier, adding that the new purchase will see residents get a total of 10,000 acres.

“Earlier, the government had given you 4,000 acres. I have gone to look for money from the government, and I have bought 6,000 acres. Now, in Kedong, you shall have 10,000 acres,” he stated.

“Bring me the names of the intended title deed holders, and I will issue the title deeds once the list of beneficiaries is provided. In one week, the title deeds will be here.”

On the other hand, the President also handed over the title deed of Mau Forest to the County Government of Narok.

It is now going to be under the care of Narok County Government on behalf of the people of Kenya,” he added.

“So that we do not have issues and politics regarding the forest, I have also come to announce that we shall fence the forest. For a start, we shall fence 100,000 kilometres.”

Equally, the head of State announced that the county government, in collaboration with the national government, would build an international airport to boost tourism in the region.
