Ezra Chiloba resigns as Communications Authority (CA) director general following suspension by the board.
Chiloba resigned in a letter to the CA Board chair on Wednesday and the decision was accepted by the board on Thursday morning.
CA, on Thursday, October 19, stated that its board of directors accepted his resignation letter addressed to the Chairperson, Mary Mungai.
“The Board of Directors of the Communication Authority of Kenya has this morning, October 19, 2023, accepted the resignation of Ezra Chiloba as the Director General,” a statement by the CA board chair read in part.
“Mr Chiloba resigned Yesterday, October 18, 2023, in a letter to the Chairperson of The CA Board Mary Mungai.”
Mungai thanked Chiloba for his time as CA boss saying his contribution to the success of the the organisation is highly cherished.
“On behalf of the Authority, I wish the outgoing Director General success in his future endeavours and appreciate his invaluable contribution to the organization and the wider ICT sector,’ said the CA Board Chairperson.
Chiloba served as the CA Director General for two years, having been appointed in October 2021.

However, the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO was recently suspended over graft allegations.
Chiloba was suspended following a board meeting held by the authority in which he was accussed of misappropriation of funds during his tenure.
As a result, Christopher Wambua has been appointed as Acting Director General.
“Following a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on 18th September 2023, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Mr Christopher Wambua as a Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until further notice. I trust that you will accord him the necessary support,” Mungai said while announcing her suspension.
