The amount Gunners players have been forced to pay in FA fines amid shocking red card record revealed
2 min readGunners players have been compelled to pay FA fines out of their own pockets as Mikel Arteta’s dreadful red card record continues.
Arsenal’s disciplinary problems under current manager Mikel Arteta are well-known.
The Gunners players have received a total of 15 red cards in all competitions since the Spaniard took over from compatriot Unai Emery in December 2019, considerably more than any other Premier League team.
The dismissals have clearly harmed the Gunners, who have had to play without a number of key players in crucial matches as a result of the resulting sanctions.
While Arsenal and Arteta have had to cope with the fallout from that reprehensible behavior, the players who were culpable have also been punished with FA fines.
Players can be fined for both yellow and red cards, according to the FA Laws of the Game.
While red cards do not have a substantial financial impact on a Premier League footballer’s salary, the sheer frequency of red cards issued under Arteta’s rule has resulted in the current crop of Arsenal players paying hundreds of pounds in fines.
Red cards for violent behaviour or serious foul play result in a three-match suspension and a £55 fine, according to FA guidelines.
A dismissal for two bookable offenses or denying an evident goal-scoring opportunity, on the other hand, is punishable by a £35 fine.
A £15 administrative fee is included in both sanctions.
Taking into consideration Arsenal’s 15 red cards during Arteta’s tenure, the club has been compelled to pay a minimum of £625 for their acts.
