The MPs allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, and the One Kenya Alliance received secret invitation messages on Wednesday, January 12.
Amos Kimunya said MPs allied to William Ruto were left out because they have been opposing the government’s agenda in parliament.
The Azimio la Umoja allied MPs last week ganged up and defeated those allied to Ruto during the polemic amendments to the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
The meeting convened at State House Nairobi is expected to have a huge political impact as he will reportedly give the lawmakers a direction over his succession politics.
The MPs from Majority Leader Amos Kimunya and Minority Whip Junet Mohamed.
“Good morning mheshimiwa. I would like to invite you to a luncheon at State House, Nairobi. Please be punctual. We should be done by 1pm,” read the text message quoted by Nation.
Other invited guests include Uhuru’s perceived preferred successor Raila, OKA principals ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Senator Moses Wetang’ula, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, and KANU’s Gideon Moi.
The invited MPs last week ganged up and defeated those allied to Ruto during the polemic amendments to the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
The Garissa Township MP had pushed for the deletion of clause 8b of the Bill that requires a coalition political party to submit pact six months to elections.
The proposal, however, flopped after 128 lawmakers voted to shoot it down against 104 colleagues who supported the removal of the contentious clause.
The yes brigade which comprised of legislators allied to Ruto’s United Democratic Movement (UDA) rose on points of order to claim that the results were rigged.
