Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has termed as untrue reports that former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s younger brother, Muhoho could soon sit in the National Executive as a Cabinet Secretary.
A section of the print media recently asserted that Muhoho Kenyatta was on the verge of being a CS, with President William Ruto considering preparing him to be his running mate in the 2027 presidential vote.
The foregoing was part of the agenda of Uhuru and Ruto’s surprise meeting in Ichaweri, according to the section of the media.
However, clarifying things, Kioni said the reports were baseless, and nothing to that effect had been deliberated on by Uhuru and Ruto when they met.
Speaking at a church thanksgiving fete on Friday, December 13, the former Ndaragwa MP sad that Muhoho would not need Uhuru’s intervention to join Cabinet if he wanted to.
“Everybody wants to mention Muhoho Kenyatta and place him in the Cabinet. If he ever wanted to be in Cabinet, he might have joined long ago. They are not interested in some of these things,” Kioni said.
At the same time, Kioni dismissed the assertion that Uhuru and Ruto are planning a political coalition ahead of the next vote.
It was widely asserted, after the Ichaweri meeting, that Ruto could be seeking Uhuru’s help to counter the insurgence of the Mt Kenya electorate, which had previously passionately supported him.
However, clearing the air, Kioni said there was no such thing as a “Uhuru-Ruto” reunion coalition in the offing.
According to him, Ruto called on his predecessor like any other visitor, dismissing the numerous political perspectives being attached to the unforeseen meeting.

“Uhuru still remains on the side of Kenyans. I have seen people saying a lot of things because Ruto visited him. If someone visits you, it is obvious you will let them in. They will leave after the agenda of the meeting. This does not mean that you have changed your stance,” Kioni said.
Kioni restated that Jubilee was not planning to partner with the government in any way.
He said the political outfit would remain in the opposition.
Kioni observed that the critical issues Uhuru said he discussed with Ruto are among the agenda the Jubilee party has been pushing.
“Jubilee Party, which is one of the largest parties in the country, does not intend to partner with UDA; we have no time, and we won’t get there. We will remain in the opposition and represent the people’s views. All the things Uhuru told Ruto are what we have been saying. We will remain here and fight for the people all the way to the end,” he added.
