CS Wandayi supports Ruto-Uhuru alliance after Gatundu meeting.
Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has welcomed former President Uhuru Kenyatta to the Kenya Kwanza government.
Reacting to the recent meeting between Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto, Wandayi has revealed that, as a Kenyan, Uhuru is welcome to join the Ruto-led government.
According to the CS, the vital matter in Kenya right now is fostering unity, and the Kenya Kwanza Government welcomes all those interested in unity from all walks of life.
“We support all efforts to unite Kenyans, we are also in support of Ruto’s strategies to unite Kenyans. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is a Kenyan, and there is no problem if he united with President William Ruto,” the CS noted.
CS Wandayi is one of the beneficiaries of the broad-based government between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and has hailed the efforts for unity, noting that it is one of the reasons the opposition is now working with the government.
“There is a time for everything previously we were opposition, but now we are all in government, working under the broad-based government,” the CS noted.
Wandayi’s sentiments come barely four days after President William Ruto met with his predecessor at his Gatundu home. This was the second time the two leaders were meeting after their initial meeting in Embu during the consecration and installation of Bishop Peter Kimani Ndung’u.

Although details of their meeting still remain scanty, President Ruto maintained that he took the time to thank the former president for a smooth transition of power after the 2022 presidential elections.
On his part, Uhuru dismissed any speculations that the meeting would mean his joining the government.
In an official statement, Uhuru noted that it was normal practice for sitting and former presidents to engage and consult on matters of national importance for the benefit of the citizenry.
The meeting between the two leaders continues to spark controversy, with pundits alleging that something might be cooking.
Ruto, speaking during the Jamuhuri Day celebrations on Thursday, maintained that he is focused on uniting Kenyans.
