Police stations to offer Huduma Center services in new plan
The government on Friday, December 13, announced plans to make Huduma center services available at police stations.
Speaking during the launch of the National Police Service and State Department of Correctional Services Strategic Plan (2023-2027) at State House, Huduma Kenya CEO Benjamin Chilumo announced that in collaboration with the Kenya School of Government, a curriculum has been developed to train police officers on Huduma services.
This is to expand the critical services and make them easily accessible.
“I would like to say that plans are underway whereby we will be able to train the police services where we will be able to replicate services at Huduma centers to police stations all across Kenya,” Chilumo stated.
The CEO stated that the new development was brought about by the recognition of the importance of such services by Kenyans and other stakeholders in service delivery.
“This was brought about by the appreciation of Kenyans towards Huduma Kenya and with the way we have established our services in these centers across the country,” he added.
“That is why we collaborated with the Kenya School of Government to come up with a curriculum to develop a system where we can train the police officers. We will collaborate with the police to ensure that all services that are offered in the police stations will be of the same quality as the ones in the Huduma centers,” Chilumo noted.
In the new plan, Kenyans will be able to visit their closest police station and access Huduma services.
This will save them the hustle of going to Huduma offices that may be far from their reach or endure long queues while waiting for critical services.
Currently, Huduma centers offer a myriad of services ranging from identification and childhood services where most Kenyans can be issued with birth and death certificates, national identity cards, passport collection and HELB student loan applications.
Additionally, the centers assist in legal, crime and oversight services where Kenyans can get police clearance certificates, report graft cases to the EACC, and handle complaints on public service delivery and registration of voters.

Further, the centers handle educational services by assisting form four leavers in university and college placement, revision of choices and career guidance in the Kenya Universities and College Placement Service (KUCPS). They also help in the registration of candidates in adult education and services in the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB).
Huduma centers are also crucial in agriculture, lands and transport services where individuals can register titles and leases, acquire seed certification, issuance of licenses to registered seed sellers, issuance of plant import permit(s), issuance of smart driving license(s) and logbooks, Boda Boda registration and TIMS account management.
Other Huduma services that police stations will be issuing are services related to business and commerce, health, finance and welfare and utilities. While the Huduma CEO did not provide a clear timeline on when the police will be bestowed the new responsibility, it is expected that the development will take effect within the near future.
