William Kabogo breaks silence after nomination to Cabinet as ICT CS
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has issued a statement following his nomination as Cabinet Secretary by President William Ruto.
In a post on social media platform X on Friday, December 20, Kabogo expressed gratitude to Ruto for entrusting him with the opportunity to serve under his administration.
“Grateful to President William Ruto for the trust and honour of nominating me as Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Digital Economy. Thank you, Mr. President and the people of Kenya, for this opportunity,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, outgoing Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen also thanked Ruto for nominating him to the highly coveted Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
In a brief statement on Thursday, December 19, Murkomen noted that he was looking forward to porting the president in delivering his agendas.
“Thank you, Mr. President, for this incredible opportunity to serve our great nation in this capacity. I look forward to supporting the President in delivering on his national security and administration agenda. In keeping with my oath of office, I undertake to serve with honour and dignity and to perform the functions of my office to the best of my ability,” he said.

Kabogo began his political journey in 2002 when he was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Juja Constituency.
After losing the seat in 2007, he made a notable comeback by reclaiming it in a 2010 by-election.
In 2013, Kabogo achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Governor of Kiambu County, serving until 2017.
After an unsuccessful bid for re-election in 2017, he remained active in the political arena.
On Wednesday, Ruto nominated Kabogo as the CS for ICT in a broader cabinet reshuffle that has sparked mixed reactions within the political class.
If confirmed by Parliament, Kabogo will succeed Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, who has been appointed as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana.
