Following a disagreement, chaos broke out at the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) in Kurundas, Nyeri County on Sunday.
The members outside the church were seen physically attacking each other after after a church service.
The intention to alter the church’s leadership, with which some members disagreed, is said to have been the catalyst for the entire incident, resulting in a fight between two factions.
Some of them got into physical altercations, while others stood by, shocked by the rapid turn that events had taken.
As the service went on, some members of the congregation were confined outside the chapel according to reports.

The altercations between the church leaders elicited mixed reactions amongst Kenyans who questioned why church leaders were setting a bad example, considering that they are expected to demonstrate leadership.
The fight comes a few months after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua mediated a 17-year wrangle between different AIPCA factions.
In a meeting held in November, Gachagua successfully brokered a truce between the factions ahead of the elections.
“They have committed that the church will be one, and the issue of factions will come to an end on Friday,” Gachagua stated then.
