DCI detectives arrest KDF officer in ambush on drug trafficking
Investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are detaining a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier after being apprehended in connection with drug trafficking in Mombasa.
The KDF officer was arrested in the company of a juvenile.
The DCI, in a statement on Sunday, September 15, said the ambush in several Mombasa localities was undertaken by a multi-agency team comprising law enforcers and other government and non-government agencies in Operation Usalama.
The officers targeted dens in among other areas, Kengeleni, Magodoroni and Shanzu areas, and Kisumu Ndogo.
The KDF officer, whose identity remained under wraps, and his accomplice were found with Heroin, Marijuana, and Diazepam.

They were booked into police custody ahead of their arraignment.
Besides their search for narcotics, the investigators raided shops dealing in fake sportswear products and books.
In Mwembe Tayari, the detectives raided the Prijas Sports House, where 27 pieces of assorted counterfeit sportswear were seized.
At China Mall, the DCI officers made an impromptu visit to the Champions Style Sports, where 204 pieces of assorted counterfeit sportswear were also recovered.
At the Citizen Bookshop in Mwembe Tayari, the officers found seven different series of books believed to be counterfeited and in contravention of copyright rules.
