The embassy claimed that locations frequented by American citizens and other tourists continue to be targets of terrorist groups.
“The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi reminds U.S. citizens in Kenya that they should exercise increased caution due to the risks of terrorism and kidnapping. Locations frequented by U.S. citizens and other foreigners and tourists in Nairobi and elsewhere in Kenya continue to be targets to terrorists.
“Terrorist groups could attack with little or no warning, targeting hotels, embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, schools, police stations, places of worship, and other places frequented by foreigners and tourists,” read part of the alert.
The U.S. Embassy asked the Americans to stay alert in areas frequented by foreigners, review their local security plans and always monitor the media for updates and alerts.
