King Charles III sends special message to Kenyans ahead of Jamhuri Day celebrations

King Charles III has sent his warm congratulations to President William Ruto and the people of Kenya ahead of the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations

King Charles III has sent his warm congratulations to President William Ruto and the people of Kenya ahead of the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations. 

In his statement on Wednesday, December 11, the King pointed out the enduring bonds between the United Kingdom and Kenya, highlighting shared values and a long-standing friendship. 

“I cherish the close bond shared between our nations and am confident that our ties will continue to flourish in this very special seventy-fifth anniversary year of the Commonwealth – are a fitting reminder of the enduring values and aspirations that unite us. The mutually beneficial partnership between our two countries is one of trust and friends,” the King wrote.

King Charles also reflected on his personal experiences in Kenya, expressing fond memories of his visits and the warm hospitality he received from its people. 

Additionally, the King noted that he was looking forward to the continued collaboration between the two nations to address pressing global challenges such as climate change.

“I fondly remember my own visits to Kenya and the warm hospitality of the Kenyan people. I look forward to the continuing close friendship and strong partnership between our two countries, to help promote issues of shared importance, including mutual prosperity and to address climate change and biodiversity loss,” the King added.

In closing, King Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort, conveyed his best wishes for Kenyans in the new year 2025.

“My wife and I would like to take this opportunity to send you and all Kenyans our very best wishes for the coming year,” he concluded.

Jamhuri Day, celebrated on December 12th every year, marks the day Kenya became a republic following the country’s independence from British colonial rule. 

On this day, Kenya also celebrates the adoption of its first constitution, which gave the country its full self-governance.
