Former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has slammed President William Ruto after he termed those against livestock vaccination as mad and possibly stupid.
In a statement on Wednesday, December 11, Kabando noted that criticism of presidential peculiarity was a civic duty, claiming that those who were opposing the move are partriots who mean well.
The former lawmaker described the president’s remarks as absurd and called for sanity, logic, and tolerance.
“Criticism of presidential eccentricity is a civic duty. We mean well as patriots. Insulting sovereigns ‘foolish, mad, stupid, & possessed by evil spirits’ is absurdity that’d be vaccinated with sanity, reason, rationality, logic, & tolerance to cure crazy outbursts,” Kabando remarks.
While speaking at the closing ceremony of the 4th Pastoralist Leadership Summit in Wajir County on Tuesday, December 10, President Ruto called out a section of leaders who were opposing the planned nationwide vaccination of livestock.
The Head of State claimed that there was an evil spirit in the country, which is dwelling in some leaders.

“Anybody opposing vaccination to eliminate FMD and PPR is simply mad, unreasonable and possibly stupid. Honestly, how else can you explain?
“There is an evil spirit in Kenya that is resident in some leaders. They churn out falsehoods and oppose everything for the sake of opposing,” Ruto stated.
Meanwhile, the national livestock vaccination will see the vaccination of 22 million cattle against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and 50 million sheep and goats against Peste des petits ruminants (PPR).
Speaking on December 4, 2024, Agriculture CS Andrew Karanja defended the exercise, saying the livestock industry is one of the sectors with the potential to significantly contribute to economic development and job creation and therefore should be safeguarded.
