Elisaphanson Kinyanjui, according to Citizen TV, was discovered in Ruiru minutes after the story aired on prime time news.
Frederick Njoroge, the boy’s father, told the media that the student was caught making a phone call to his cousin.
Kinyanjui was supposed to take the national exams this year, which started on Monday, March 14, but he went missing two weeks ago.
His bereaved family had demanded an explanation from the school administration as to why the student had vanished while in their care.
The father blamed the school’s administration for what he termed as negligence.
Currently, 831,015 candidates, sitting the KCSE exams, will conclude on Friday, April 1.
Those in Class 7 and Form 3 will then transition to the upper class in late April 2022 and sit their KCPE and KCSE exams in November and December 2022 respectively.
