Some of President Ruto’s allies call for isolating Mt Kenya region urging him to consider coalescing with other regions.

Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama has blasted the Mt Kenya electorate for striving to dominate national politics.

Speaking at a church service in Mt. Elgon on Sunday, January 19, the lawmaker accused the figures from the populous region of blackmailing President William Ruto.

He counselled Ruto to consider coalescing with other regions besides Mt Kenya, suggesting that the president would still be re-elected without the input of the central Kenya electorate.

“We are not going to accept for one tribe to think they have a birthright to be at the state house. When one of them gets to state house, we allow them the space and peace to finish their terms even if they cannot deliver, but when someone from another trie gets in, they incite and blackmail even if things are working,” said Wanyama.

The MP, in the same breath, went after former president Uhuru Kenyatta whom he accused of inciting Kenyans.

Uhuru had asked the Kenyan youth to remain fearless and stay committed to the cause of fighting for their rights.

Wanyama asked Uhuru to desist from plotting against Ruto through Gen Zs, asking him to take a back seat from active politics, having retired as Kenya’s fourth president.

It cannot be business as usual. You (Uhuru) retired, please stay at home and see how the country is being run. I am not begging you; it is the position that I want all Kenyans to know, and this country belongs to all of us. Mt Kenya has gotten slippery and will remain so forever. If we all unite, we isolate them, and it will be us against them,” he said.
