President William Ruto has nominated former NTSA boss Mejaand IEBC commissioner Boya Molu as a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
President William Ruto has nominated former National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Director-General Francis Meja as a member of the Public Service Commission.
According to a communication by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei on Friday, December 20, Meja was nominated to serve as a commission member alongside five others including former IEBC Commissioner Boya Molu.
“To facilitate a seamless transition within the Public Service Commission, His Excellency the President has today exercised his constitutional prerogative by nominating individuals to serve in the ranks of the membership of the Commission.
“This presidential action seeks to proactively address the fourth coming vacancies in the offices of the Vice-Chairperson and six Members of the Commission, expected to occur in mid-January 2025, with an additional vacancy anticipated in April 2025,” Koskei stated.
Others nominated to the government body are Harun Maalim Hassan, Mwanamaka Amani Mabruki, Dr. Irene Cherotich Asienga, Dr. Francis Otieno Owino and Joan Andisi Machayo.
Former State Department for Public Service Principal Secretary Mary Wanjira Kimonye was nominated as the commission’s vice-chairperson.
Consequently, their names were submitted to Parliament for vetting and approval.

Meja served as the Director General of NTSA from 2014 until his tenure concluded in early 2020.
He is credited with automating NTSA’s operations, notably through the implementation of the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS), which streamlined services by making them accessible online.
Following his departure from NTSA, Meja ventured into politics.
He sought the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party’s nomination for the Kajiado gubernatorial seat in the August 2022 General Election.
However, he was unsuccessful, losing in the primaries to Katoo ole Metito, who secured 72,679 votes against Meja’s 13,097.
In November 2023, Meja transitioned into the education sector after Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu appointed him as a member of the Council of the Murang’a University of Technology for a three-year term, effective from November 10, 2023.
