Three-year-old boy dies after falling into a septic tank in Mombasa
A three-year-old boy died after reportedly falling into a partially uncovered septic tank at his home in Manyani, Junda, Kisauni Sub-County, Mombasa County.
According to police, the incident occurred while the child was playing with other children in the family compound.
With the help of the public, the child was retrieved from the septic tank and rushed to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital in critical condition.
However, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Police said the cause of death was drowning.
The body was moved to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The incident left the boy’s family and friends devastated, according to police and witnesses.
Elsewhere, a two-year-old boy died after reportedly drowning in a stream in Suna West Sub-County, Migori County.

Police said the incident occurred on Monday at Gibaria Village while the boy was playing near the Horr Stream.
Police said he slipped and fell into the water.
At the time of the incident, the child was with his three-year-old elder brother, who reportedly ran to seek help from a passerby, according to police.
The passer-by rushed to the scene and retrieved the child from the stream. However, police said the boy had already died.
The scene was photographed and documented before the body was moved to Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it will undergo a post-mortem examination.
Police have classified the incident as a drowning and said investigations are ongoing.
