2 min readA woman kills her two children by slaughtering them with a panga before taking her own life.
Tragedy struck a village in Bomet County when a 30-year-old woman slaughtered her two children before dying by suicide.
The bodies of the two children aged 12 and three were found sprawled in her house on Saturday in Chebisian village, Merigi Location, police said.
The woman is said to have used a panga to slaughter the two.
Her body was found hanging on a truss in the house long after the incident had happened. The door of the house was locked from inside.
Police had to break into the house where they found the bodies of the children in a pool of blood.
The bodies were moved to Longisa County Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
According to police, the woman has been having mental trauma issues and believes that it drove her to the tragedy but a team is handling the matter and will give a report after the probe.

Police said they are also probing a possibility that the murder-suicide theory was staged.
“We have to investigate it to know what happened. It could be they were killed and the whole thing staged,” said an officer aware of the incident and probe.
The issue of suicide is on the rise amid calls for action to stop the trend.
The government has been rolling out programs to address the trend amid financial challenges.
Police say the trend has been worrying and increasing as up to two cases are reported daily.
The World Health Organisation says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties and financial difficulties.
Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
