US Embassy announces scholarship programme for Kenyans; How to apply
The US Embassy has announced scholarship opportunities for Kenyans to travel to America for a four-month programme.
In a statement dated Monday, September 23, the Embassy indicated that the Ambassador Scholarship Fund will offer applicants an opportunity to gain professional experience in the US.
Applicants will also be able to improve their English and share insights into their cultures in the US.
“You will be matched with host employers in seasonal communities throughout the United States and will work in seasonal, entry-level jobs with a high level of interaction with American colleagues and guests.
“Recipients will meet, work, live with and learn from both people of the United States and other international students while sharing daily experiences,” read the details of the scholarship.”
Benefits of the programme include a sponsorship program fee, health insurance, visa interview fee and round-trip flights to and from the United States. However, some of the costs incurred such as rent are not covered.
Among the requirements needed is the ability to successfully interact in an English-speaking environment.
Students at the University and colleges ought to have completed at least one semester in school.
Participants will also be required to participate in a pre-program survey and follow the US Department of State’s social media handles.
Additionally, those interested will have to complete a video or blog post explaining how you are preparing for the program.
“If you are chosen as a scholar, Greenheart will prepare you for all obligations so that there is no confusion on what you will need to accomplish,” read the scholarship brief in part.

“After being chosen as an Ambassador Scholar, you will need to complete a virtual interview with Greenheart and/or the local U.S. embassy. If the interview goes well, you will be confirmed as a winner!” read the statement in part.
“Begin the program application process with Greenheart, which includes biographical and employment information, documents and job confirmation. Note this process can take several months.”
