A Machakos County minister was forced to scamper for safety after she met a hostile reception from Gen Z during a funeral ceremony.
Rita Ndunge who heads the Roads docket in Machakos County was on Saturday attending the funeral service of Erickson Kyalo Mutisya who died during anti-government protests.
Mutisya who hails from Kisekini Village in the Thinu area had met his untimely death while protesting the Finance Bill, 2024 which has since been withdrawn.
Rita Ndunge was the high-ranking leader from Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration who attended the event.
The Master of Ceremony (MC) asked Rita Ndunge to come to the stage to greet mourners and eulogise the departed young man.
Sensing the hostile crowd, the minister hesitated to take the mic begging the MC to let her pass the opportunity.
After insistence, Rita Ndunge took the mic and asked Justice for Mutisya.
The crowd started heckling her and asking her to get off the stage.
A Gen Z from the congregated mourners stormed to the stage and grabbed the mic from her as the crowd continued to boo.

Fearing for her safety, she quickly descended from the stage and disappeared into the crowd.
“I just wanted her to greet you,” the MC apologised to the worked-up crowd.
This happened two days after Governor Wavinya Ndeti remarked that there was a plan by her political opponents to send young men to her office.
“I am ready to dialogue with Machakos Gen Zs. I know many of them are jobless and the economy is not favourable,” the Governor had also earlier indicated.
