More mutilated bodies retrieved from Mukuru Kwa Njenga quarry
Four more mutilated bodies found at the Mukuru quarry with the total number rising to 14.
The grim discovery of mutilated bodies wrapped in polythene bags continues to baffle investigators and horrify the local community.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), supported by a specialized homicide team and the Recce squad, is spearheading the effort to uncover the truth behind these gruesome acts.
As of yesterday, human rights groups placed the figure at over nine bodies while the police claimed only six bodies were retrieved.
In addition, more bodies were retrieved on Saturday but the exact number of bodies still buried remains unknown.
The ongoing retrieval efforts at the Kware pit have been painstakingly slow, according to human rights groups.
The Kenya Red Cross has deployed a single boat to aid the rescue mission, but the exact number of bodies still buried remains unknown.
Large gatherings of nearby residents surrounded the dumpsite to witness the bodies wrapped in polythene bags and tied in similar fashion showing that the heinous actions could be committed by the same people.
DCI boss Mohamed Amin confirmed that homicide detectives were analyzing samples from the scene to positively identify the bodies.
“Preliminary investigations suggest a similar mode of killing for the deceased. The bodies have been transferred to the City Mortuary, where they await post-mortem examinations,” Amin noted.

“Some of the bodies retrieved from a quarry in Mukuru, Embakasi South, today were mutilated. Kenya Kwanza regime, led by President William Ruto must take accountability for this heinous crime,” the commission said.
Further, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) directed the Inspector General of Police to swiftly conduct investigations over the matter.
