Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has weighed in on the discovery of six bodies in Mukuru kwa Njenga, Embakasi.
In a statement on Saturday, July 13, Raila said he was pained by what happened in Mukuru Kwa Njenga describing it as a sad moment for the country.
The former Prime Minister offered his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and called on the authorities to act swiftly and deal with those behind the killings.
“It’s a sad and dark moment for Kenya, what we have witnessed in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, pains me deeply. To the families who have lost loved ones, accept my deepest condolences. The perpetrators of these and other heinous acts must face the full force of the law immediately,” Raila stated.
The several bodies were retrieved opposite the Kware Police Station by youths from the area according to the Mukuru Community Justice Centre.
The bodies were chopped into pieces and put in sacks while others were in nylon papers.
“Bodies being retrieved from quarry pit opposite Kware police station by youths. The police are on site as more bodies are being retrieved. Other bodies are in sacks chopped into pieces so far six bodies have been retrieved,” the Mukuru Community Justice Centre stated.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Amin Mohamed in a statement on Friday, July 12 said the bodies have been taken to the city mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
He noted that preliminary investigations have suggested a similar mode of killing for the deceased.
“Preliminary investigations suggest a similar mode of killing for the deceased. The bodies have been transported to the city mortuary, where they await postmortem examinations,” the DCI boss stated.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed the National Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation and forward the resultant file within 21 days.
