KMTC opens deferment window for students who missed March intake

Students who were admitted to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) during the March intake window but did not report have been given another opportunity to continue their studies.

The college announced that it has opened a deferment window for the students who failed to report for particular reasons.

In a notice on Tuesday, May 12, KMTC said the affected students can now move their admission to the September intake by deferring their current year of study.

“Missed the March 2026 Intake? Don’t worry! KMTC has officially opened deferment to the September 2026 Intake for students who were unable to join the March 2026 class,” the college announced.

This means that the students will now begin their courses in September, with a new lot of students expected to be placed at the college during the same period.

The deferement gives students another opportunity to begin their studies in September and realise their dream of studying their preferred medical course.

According to KMTC, the deferment will be done online through the students’ admission portal at admissions.ac.ke.

Once logged in, applicants must navigate to the dropdown menu at the top-left of the screen and select ‘deferment’.

After this selection, students are required to fill in the required details and submit.

According to the college, once a request is submitted, its status will remain “submitted” until the admissions office reviews it.

After the office reviews the request, the students will receive a text message confirming whether their request to defer the course has been approved or declined.

The notice comes days after the college closed down another emergency placement window through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS) that sought immediate placement for the students.

It is worth noting that the college will open an application for the September intake, and students who defer now will study together with the new students joining in September.
