This incident was the latest in a worrying spate of accidents that have rocked the country in recent weeks.
It occurred just two days after six school children lost their lives in a hit-and-run incident along Kitui-Kibwezi road.
The victims, three primary school and three secondary school children died from a speeding car, whose driver has since been arrested.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority, most accidents in Kenyan roads are avoidable, since they are a result of human error.
Up to 4,000 people are killed annually in separate accidents.
Many others are left with injuries in the incidents that have a negative impact on families.
