Kenyans trapped in Lebanon cry for help as Israel escalates attacks in Beirut
Kenyans living in Lebanon are stranded and crying for help as Israel continues a bloody and deadly bombardment on the Capital Beirut that has killed over 105 people and injured 359 others.
Israel says it attacked dozens of Hezbollah targets and killed the group’s leaders but Lebanese officials said the bombardments struck homes and killed innocent civilians.
According to Kenyans in Lebanon led by Brenda Wangithi Muthoni from Ndia, Kirinyaga County, they are not safe and want the government to rescue them and bring them back home.
“I came to Lebanon in August and I’m currently working as a caretaker,” says Muthoni. “We are on the street and several people have died while others were injured.”.
According to Vashem Kirubo, a caregiver in Lebanon, some Kenyans have been left stranded as their employers have fled the bombardments.

“Our bosses have left us in their houses, others have gone offline, we need help and we are displaced,” pleads Kirubo.
Wangithi said her employer fled to Switzerland and left with his brother who also left her and went to Syria.
“We are appealing for help. We were looking for green pastures,” Wangithi said.
According to Reuters, Israel’s increasing frequency of attacks against the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon and the Houthi militia in Yemen have prompted fears that Middle East fighting could spin out of control and draw in Iran and the United States, Israel’s main ally.
Israel on Sunday launched airstrikes against the Houthi militia in Yemen and dozens of Hezbollah targets throughout Lebanon after earlier killing the Hezbollah leader.
