The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, led to protests from students at the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology where Cherotich was a student.

The protesters lamented that young girls at the institution were being preyed on by older men eyeing them for sex.

They noted that instances of girls being whisked away by older men had occurred severally putting their academic life in jeopardy.

Authorities are, however, yet to make public the age of Cherotich’s boyfriend or the company he keeps.
