IG Douglas Kanja transfers all Kware Police Station police officers after the discovery of mutilated bodies in a quarry.
Inspector General of Police on Sunday transferred all police officers stationed at Kware Police Station as investigations into the Mukuru killings continued.
Addressing the media, the new police IG indicated that the transfer was necessary to accord investigators ample time to prepare a report that was fair and unbiased.
“To ensure fair and unbiased investigations, I have moved the officers from Kware Police Station,” he stated.
“In this difficult time, we stand with the community and we remain committed to uncovering the truth and bringing those responsible to justice.”
He further indicated that the investigations will be concluded in a period of 21 days in collaboration with several security agencies.
“Our officers in collaboration with the ODPP are working tirelessly to conclude the investigations within 21 days.”
“The police service and I would like to assure the public that we are committed to conducting transparent, thorough, and swift investigations,” he added.
The directive comes as Kenyans continue to express their ire after several dead bodies, some of them mutilated, were discovered at an abandoned quarry-turned-dumpsite in Mukuru.

The bodies were found wrapped in polythene bags and tied with ropes. As of Saturday noon, the total number of recovered bodies had risen to 14.
A day after the discoveries, President William Ruto directed homicide detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to carry out investigations and bring the perpetrators to book.
“In Nairobi, about 9 bodies have been found and all of them are female. The government is still investigating the matter,” Ruto stated.
“I have directed the police and all those involved including the DCI and homicide that they investigate what happened.”
He further reiterated that the killings were against the Constitution and the human rights of any nation.
