Ruto makes fresh appointments to a state parastatal

President Ruto makes appointments to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation.

President William Ruto has appointed Philip Salau Mpaayei and Peter Gathenya Githinji as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation.

In a gazette notice on Friday, February 23, the two will serve in the position up to October 5, 2024.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the State Corporations Act, and further to Gazette Notice No. 102 of 2024, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Philip Salau Mpaayei and Peter Gathenya Githinji, as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation, with effect from the 23rd February 2024 upto the 5th October 2024,” read the notice in part.

At the same time, Ruto appointed Lewis Gitonga and Alvin Habwe to be members of the Board. Gitong will serve up to June 2025 while Habwe will serve until July 2025.

“Lewis Mutuiri Gitonga, to be a member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Railways Corporation, with effect from the 23rd of February 2024 up to the 4th of June, 2025. Alvin Habwe, to be a member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Railways Corporation, with effect from the 23rd February 2024 up to the 12th July 2025,” the notice added.

In other appointments, Housing PS Alice Wahome appointed Danie Njue Kamunde to be a member of the Estate Agents Registration Board, for three years, with effect from the 23rd February 2024.

Labour CS Florence Bore reappointed Mary Wambui as the Chairperson of the Trustees of the Street Families Rehabilitation Trust Fund, for three years.

The National Treasury and Economic Planning CS Njuguna Ndung’u appointed Stanslaus Kimani, Jackson Awele Onyango, Jessica Njeri Mmbetsa and Hussein Were to be members of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board. The three will serve for three years.
