A police officer kills self in Nakuru following an altercation with his two wives.

There was a tragedy at the home of a 58-year-old police officer when his two daughters found him dead after a suspected suicide in Nakuru Town.

Constable Samuel Maina Muriuki was attached to Nakuru Central police station when he was found dead on Wednesday, May 8.

According to reports, the police officer failed to report to work and wake up as usual prompting his two daughters aged 16 and 12 to check on him.

Their mother was not home at the time of the incident according to reports.

Reports add that the officer became disgruntled after both of his wives left their matrimonial home following the dispute.

The report indicated that he developed sickness and depression, uttering words of pessimism that he was slowly knocking at death’s door.

“Further it was also established that the deceased had been sickly and depressed and that on various occasions he had said to them that his life was coming to an end soon,” the report read in part.

At 11:30 am on Wednesday, the officer is reported to have spent his time at a house under construction within his homestead, leaving his children inside the home.

He took a sisal rope and tied it on a roof timber inside the incomplete house and hanged himself.

His eldest daughter stumbled upon the officer’s body during midday and reported to Mwariki police station.

The body was found hanging on a sisal, police said.

Police visited the scene and picked up the body to the mortuary as they commenced an investigation into the incident.
