Janet Mbugua announces comeback to NTV with a new show

Veteran journalist Janet Mbugua has announced her return to the screens with a new show two months after quitting NTV’s Fixing the Nation show.
In a video shared on her social media platforms, Mbugua announced that she is returning to NTV, where she will host a new weekly show focused on healthcare. According to Mbugua, the show will be aired every Sunday at 6 pm.
The award-winning media personality said her decision to return with a health programme was driven by her passion for the subject, having previously championed mental health awareness and menstrual health advocacy.
“I am starting a new show this Sunday on NTV at 6 pm. I transitioned, stepped back to come back and do something I can sustain, something along the line that I am really passionate about, which is health,” Mbugua stated.
The show, dubbed Healthy Nation, she explained, will go beyond discussions on mental health and will also examine the broader healthcare challenges faced by Kenyans and everyone around the world.
“We have a healthcare crisis in many parts of the world, not just Kenya. Whether it’s health justice, dignity or policy, the diseases that are visible and those that are not,” she added.
“How can you have a citizen who can show up and be the best version of themselves if healthcare is compromised? If almost every one of us is one incident away from needing emergency services which we cannot afford,” Mbugua posed.

These realities, she said, inspired her decision to return to develop the programme that will have dedicated conversations around healthcare policy and access to medical services, noting that she is looking forward to connecting with viewers and fans.
Mbugua’s return comes nearly two months after she exited the Fixing the Nation show on NTV, where she was a cohost together with other seasoned journalists for over one year.
According to Mbugua, she had joined the show as it was a natural fit to continue her advocacy and active citizen work on a mainstream platform.
In her farewell statement, she signalled a return to the screens when she described her exit as an early departure, noting that she usually commits three to seven years to a media role.
Mbugua is a seasoned news anchor, author, actress, and gender equality advocate. She has been a news anchor on Citizen TV for some years before going to NTV.
