Ruto issues directive to all CSs after Tree-Planting Day
2 min readPresident Ruto directs all CSs to plant trees on a daily basis over the next six months after Tree-Planting Day.
Speaking on Friday during a tree-planting exercise in Murang’a county, Ruto directed all cabinet secretaries to progress the planting of trees from Monday, May 13.
President Ruto clarified that the project would be done for the next six months and every ministry would be allocated specific days for planting trees.
“We are not just planting trees today, from Monday, this exercise will continue ministry by ministry daily,” Rtuo noted.
“For the next six months, every ministry will be in charge for a day for planting trees,” he added.
According to the president, the move was aimed at helping the government achieve its target of planting 15 billion trees.
The head of state noted the move would also help communities understand the significance of managing our environment.
“We want our development to be on a sustainable basis, by making sure that as we develop with harmony with our environment,” the head of state revealed.

Speaking earlier on Friday, May 10 during the Launch of Call Centre International Global Center in Kiambu County Ruto revealed that he had been assigned to plant 20,000 trees as Kenya marks the National Tree-Planting Day.
Ruto said the government plans to plant a minimum of 200 million trees.
“Today we have a purpose as Kenya to plant a minimum of 200 million trees. When I am done with this function, I have been assigned to plant 20,000 trees today.
“You understand that I need some help so anybody who can plant a tree on my behalf it will go a long way in me attaining the threshold that I have been assigned,” said Ruto.
