Student dies after falling into a septic tank at school
Friends School Kamusinga issues statement after student dies after falling inside septic tank.
A sombre mood engulfed the Friends School Kamusinga fraternity on Monday afternoon following the death of a student who passed away after falling into a septic tank.
While confirming the student’s death, the chairperson of the institution’s Board of Management revealed the learner succumbed after falling into a septic tank which is located within the school.
The BOM chairperson revealed he received a phone call from the school principal who informed him about the tragic occurrence.
Following the incident, the student was rushed to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital after being retrieved from the tank. He was later referred to Life Care Hospital.
However, efforts to save the learner’s life hit the rocks after he succumbed while receiving treatment.
“We convened an executive Board of Management meeting at 8.00 am on September 16,” detailed the chairperson.
Hours after the incident, officers from the Ministries of Education and Interior visited the institution. The law enforcement officers subsequently launched a probe into the student’s death.

“The executive team joined the staff in addressing the students, meanwhile, there is relative calm in the school,” the BOM leader revealed.
“As a board, we have resolved that safety and security measures be addressed in school. We look forward to having a full school Board of Management soon,” reiterated the school representative.
The latest occurrence adds to the number of students and pupils who have died under mysterious circumstances for the past one week.
In a recent tragedy which occurred on September 13, three students and three other pupils lost their lives after Probox car knocked them down while they were attempting to cross a road in Kitui County.
According to a police report, the driver after noticing what he did, fled the scene before later surrendering to a police station.
